(Heiner\u2019s All Star Attraktion) recently updated their entire live sound inventory with an Allen &amp; Heath SQ<\/span><span class=\"s6\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"s6\">6 digital mixer, two AB168 AudioRacks and five ME-1 personal mixers. Assisting with the <\/span><span class=\"s6\">incorporation<\/span> <span class=\"s6\">of the ME-1 system into the band\u2019s set-up was engineer Klaus Br<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00f6ckel<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s6\">whose CV <\/span><span class=\"s6\">features<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> Miles Davis, Till Br\u00f6nner, Klaus Doldinger and festivals including JazzOpen Stuttgart, Jazzfest Rottweil and Bayern 3 Dorffest Open Air amongst many others<\/span><span class=\"s6\">)<\/span><span class=\"s6\">. As a long-term ME-1 devotee, Br\u00f6ckel has introduced many artists to the personal monitoring <\/span><span class=\"s6\">solution<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> and was well-placed to ensure the band enjoyed a smooth transition to the new <\/span><span class=\"s6\">system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s6\">While the <\/span><span class=\"s6\">five<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> members of H.A.S.A had used IEM systems previously, the move to the ME-1 <\/span><span class=\"s6\">units brought a welcome new level of individual control and, as Br\u00f6ckel describes, the switchover was straightforward. \u201cAt the first rehearsal with the ME-1s once the input levels were set on the <\/span><span class=\"s6\">SQ-6<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> everyone got into dialing in their mixes and with<\/span><span class=\"s6\">in<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> just a few songs everyone had a perfect in-ear mix,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11100 size-large\" src=\"\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6702-600x450.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s6\">The ME-1 is a 40-channel personal mixer that enables performers to take control of their monitor mix with level and pan controls, master 3-band EQ and limiter, aux input for external devices, plus a top panel ambient microphone to keep the performer in touch with their surroundings. The ME-1 works out of the box with Allen &amp; Heath\u2019s digital mixers, and can also be used with third-party mixers and audio interfaces via the use of a ME-U hub and optional Waves or Dante cards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s6\">Initially the ME-1s were <\/span><span class=\"s6\">simply <\/span><span class=\"s6\">connected <\/span><span class=\"s6\">to an AB168 AudioRack and daisy-chained with a power supply for each unit. Ultimately the band\u2019s audio engineer Nils Ott built a half-rack sized enclosure with a POE switch fed from an AB168 and Ethercon connectors at the front to allow the ME-1s to be powered over Ethernet, simplifying set-up and minimising cabling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11101\" src=\"\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/distribution.audio-technica.eu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/8\/IMG_6710-600x450.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"s4\"><span class=\"s6\">Br\u00f6ckel summed up the move to the ME-1 system as \u201cextremely easy, with each of the members getting to grips with it very quickly.
