Based in West Yorkshire, Universal AV has been <\/span>designing and supplying innovative audio visual <\/span>solutions<\/span> for more than 30 years, winning <\/span>an AV Award for <\/span>Reseller\/Integrator of the Year<\/span> along the way<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A recent move to new <\/span>company <\/span>offices presented <\/span>an <\/span>opportunity to design the ideal meeting room space<\/span>,<\/span> for<\/span> both<\/span> face-to-face and hybrid meetings with staff working from home. <\/span>Once <\/span>the integrated screen and camera technology<\/span> was<\/span> installed in the room, <\/span>it became apparent that <\/span>there was a need to address the effects of <\/span>an acoustically <\/span>challenging space, as Marketing Manager Shelley Townend explains\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The first Teams meeting took place in the office with employees also working from home,<\/span>\u201d she says,<\/span> \u201c<\/span>and those at home complained that they <\/span>just <\/span>could not hear us<\/span> clearly<\/span>, <\/span>and<\/span> that every time <\/span>somebody<\/span> moved the noise was unbearable.<\/span> It was<\/span> so bad<\/span> that we ended up avoiding<\/span> external calls in this manner until we had it resolved.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The <\/span>Audio-<\/span>Technica<\/span> team came to the office, where they carried out an acoustic test<\/span> and made some recommendations<\/span> for solutions that have really transformed the space and its usability.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The solution involved the installation of several <\/span>Artnovion<\/span> sound absorption panels<\/span>(<\/span>distributed in the UK by Audio-<\/span>Technica<\/span>)<\/span>, as the company\u2019s Tom Macklin, <\/span>Commercial Audio Business Development Manager UK North<\/span> describes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe were faced with a very reverberant room<\/span>,\u201d he <\/span>explains<\/span>, \u201c<\/span>and it was obvious that some acoustic treatment was going to be necessary<\/span> to allow meeting participants to hear each other clearly. In addition, the solution needed to complement the aesthetics of the room that the company had worked hard to create.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe solution we settled on involved five <\/span>Artnovion<\/span> Turim<\/span> RCT custom print absorption panels with the Uni<\/span>versal<\/span> AV logo printed on, to provide the perfect corporate ID background for \u00a0video calls.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Turim<\/span> panels are designed for first reflection control with an absorption range of between 200Hz to 5000Hz and are ideal for reducing the kind of excessive reverberation Uni AV needed to control.<\/span><\/p>\n

The improvements to the acoustic performance of the room has been impressive, as <\/span>Townend<\/span> says<\/span>, <\/span>\u201cTo be able to host meetings in which we can clearly hear what is being said by all<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>and be confident those on the other end of the video call are not having their hearing assaulted whenever anyone moves <\/span>\u2013 <\/span>is fantastic. Not only do the <\/span>Artnovion<\/span>panels look visually striking and provide some color to the room, they also deaden the sound from the outside of the room ensuring any conversations held are done so in private.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
