iD44MKII and SP8 in action!
Let’s have a look how the new EVO SP8s work out with iD44 Audio Interface recording a trio in Studio environment.
aving had good experience with Audient products, the Bristol based Sound Engineer Ben Capp, was giving a try adding two SP8 preamps to his iD44MKII during a recording session for Los Dedos.
The two ADAT preamps were easy to integrate into the system, and control with the brilliant and intuitive iD software, Smartgain function and all for a really good price.
Despite the fact that Ben’s studio has 24-channels of installed Neve and API style preamps run into an Antelope Orion HD system via a patchbay so you can really get all the character you want from this studio and the well treated rooms, he decided to bypass the Orion/RME MADIFace option, running everything into the iD44 and two EVO SP8 mic preamps, giving a total channel count of 20 inputs.
Beside Audient products being affordable and beautiful ones the main question is, was the band happy ultimately? “They were extremely happy with the recordings we captured and loved the way we could work” Ben said. Indeed, their EP is set to be released in autumn.
