Optimal Audio brings immersive sound to Panagyurishte Art Gallery

Optimal Audio has delivered a high-impact immersive audio system at the Panagyurishte Art Gallery in Bulgaria, supporting a visually rich exhibition centred around the region’s cultural heritage and the renowned Panagyurishte gold treasure. The project forms part of a wider transformation of the historic building – formerly a bank – into the region’s first dedicated 3D-mapping gallery, led by the Lachezar Cocorkov Foundation.

To complement the scale and emotional depth of the visual experience, Audio-Technica Central Europe specified a complete Optimal Audio solution designed for clarity, control, and ease of use. At the core of the installation is a 5.1 surround system built around Cuboid 6 loudspeakers and Sub 10 subwoofers, delivering a powerful and immersive sonic foundation.

Additional UP 6 ceiling speakers extend consistent coverage into surrounding areas, ensuring a seamless visitor experience throughout the space. The system design also addresses the acoustic challenges of the venue, where hard, reflective surfaces required careful tuning to maintain intelligibility and balance.

Amplification is provided by Amp 100 and Amp 200 units, offering reliable and efficient performance across the installation. System routing and control are managed via an Audio-Technica ATDM-1012DAN mixer, supporting the multi-channel configuration while simplifying operation for non-technical staff. “The SPL delivered by the Optimal Audio system is surprising and it was a great experience to hear the delivery of powerful full-bodied sound from such small enclosures. At the gallery’s internal opening, the same question arose: how did speakers of this size manage such fidelity and clarity? – so we were very pleased with the outcome.” Said Stoyan Bozov, technical expert for our Bulgarian team.

The result is a dynamic and precisely controlled audio environment that enhances the storytelling power of the exhibition without adding operational complexity. By integrating immersive sound with cutting-edge visual design, the Panagyurishte Art Gallery sets a new benchmark for cultural installations, demonstrating how audio can play a central role in shaping memorable visitor experiences.
