Audio-Technica Engineer Sound boundary microphones renewed

Need a microphone flush-mounted in the table or ceiling? Long time favourite ES945 and ES947 microphones have just been renewed to offer even more.

ES947 cardioid boundary microphone is getting replaced by ES947C/XLR, ES947C/FM3, ES947C/FM and ES947C/TB3. As you can see the new product naming follows the – recently renewed – gooseneck series. Here’s how to read them:

ES947 – root product code
C – cardioid
(W) – white
XLR or FM3 or FM5 or TB3 – connection type

Good to know about ES947C cardioid boundary microphones: Their axis is parallel to the surface the mic is built-in. They work best when installed in the table, facing the speaker in conferencing applications, installed in the side wall facing downwards to the area of sources to pick up, or installed in the ceiling corner pointing towards the center of the room.
ES947C/FM3
This model is the direct replacement of our ES947/LED. It comes with touch-sensitive capacitive switch with local mute function. The difference is in the LED functionality. With the new ES947C/FM3 you can select from 8 colour options (7 colours + off) for each (muted and unmuted) status of the microphone.
ES947C/FM3 is available in black only.
ES947C/FM5
FM5 (read as Flas-Mount 5-pin) version, similarly to FM3, is equipped with touch-sensitive switch and two-status RGB LED ring. The difference is in the functionality. This model has no local mute function. Instead of it, the switch status and the LED control have separate pins. Therefore, this version can be integrated in larger system with control features.
ES947C/FM5 is available in black only.
ES947C/XLR
This version comes with no LED or switch. It’s the standard cardioid model with 3-pin XLR output. Practically, this model is the direct replacement of the old ES947.
But with a surprise!
ES947C/XLR is IPx4 certified, meaning that the microphone is protected against splashes of water.ES947C/XLR is available in black or white.
ES947C/TB3
Audio-Technica has taken its low-profile ES947C cardioid boundary microphone and given it an even smaller footprint, making it a great choice for installations with limited space or where a very clean, inconspicuous look is desired. The miniature ES947C/TB3 still gives you the same clear, highly intelligible audio of its larger sibling, mounting unobtrusively in tabletops, ceilings or panels for conferencing, recording, monitoring and other demanding sound pickup applications.
The microphone has a TB3 mini XLR output connector and comes with a TB3F to XLR3M cable, on top of the rubber isolators furnished.
ES947C/TB3 is available in black or white.

ES945 renewal

Similarly to ES947, the omnidirectional ES945 has also been renewed.
Besides omnidirectional polar pattern, the new ES945O/xxx product variants have exactly the same features and differences as with ES947C/xxx variants.

Without describing the same differences, here’s the list of the new ES945O variants:

ES945O/FM3 – omnidirectional condenser boundary mic with switch, RGB LED ring, local mute; black only

ES945O/FM5 – omnidirectional condenser boundary mic with no local mute, switch, RGB LED ring on separate pins; black only

ES945O/XLR – omnidirectional condenser boundary mic, IPx4 certified. No switch or LED. Black or white.

ES945O/TB3 – omnidirectional condenser boundary mic, miniature version with TB3 output. Black or white.

All new versions are available for ordering now.
